Marrakech's iconic 12th-century mosque with a 77-meter minaret and beautiful gardens.
The largest mosque in Marrakech, the Koutoubia Mosque was completed in 1195 and is a masterpiece of Almohad architecture. Its 77-meter minaret is visible from anywhere in the city and served as a model for the Giralda in Seville and the Hassan Tower in Rabat. The minaret was built with 10,000 bags of precious香料, giving it a fragrant aroma that can still be detected today—earning it the nickname 'Spice Tower.' Non-Muslims cannot enter the prayer hall, but the surrounding rose gardens are beautiful for a stroll and offer excellent photo opportunities of the iconic tower. The gardens are especially lively in late afternoon when local families come for picnics [citation:1][citation:5].
