A 12th-century olive grove garden with a reflecting pool and Atlas Mountain views.
Established in the 12th century under the Almohad dynasty, these sprawling olive grove gardens cover 100 hectares at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. The centerpiece is a large artificial lake (basin) fed by a 700-year-old hydraulic system that channels snowmelt from the Atlas Mountains. A small, two-story pavilion with a distinctive green-tiled roof (the Menara Pavilion) sits at the edge of the lake, offering iconic views of the mountains reflected in the water. Locals come here for picnics, and it's a peaceful escape from the city's hustle. The gardens contain 40 different varieties of olive trees. Legend says treasure is buried under the foundation of the lake [citation:3][citation:5].
