Hands-on cooking classes learning tagine, couscous, bread, and mint tea in a bright airy studio.
For a hands-on Moroccan culinary experience, head to Blue Door Cuisine's bright and airy venues in Tangier. Over the course of three hours, you can learn to rustle up a tasty tagine or couscous, traditional Moroccan bread (khobz), and discover the art of tea-making. The class is led by multilingual Moroccan experience leaders who share family recipes passed down through generations. Classes typically end with everyone sitting down to enjoy the fruits of their labor, with time to chat and ask questions. For those with advance notice, additional experiences can be arranged: trips to the souq (aromatic stores filled with pyramids of mysterious spices), a visit to a community oven (ferran - an almost subterranean stone-walled space where trays of bread dough are baked in a wood-fired oven), or the raucous fish market to learn how Moroccans select the freshest catch. There's also a Moroccan Cooking Express experience that takes 90 minutes for those short on time. Children are welcome to participate, making this an excellent family activity. Book at least 48 hours in advance to secure your spot.[citation:6]
