A 5km revitalized seafront promenade with marina views, Spain visible, and sunset strolls.
Tangier's revitalized seafront stretches for 5 km (3 miles) around the curve of the bay, offering one of the most pleasant urban coastal walks in Morocco. The recent regeneration of the area includes a new fishing port, a modern ferry port, and the broad Corniche promenade that runs along the waterfront. Backed by Boulevard Mohammed V with its rich mix of architectural styles (from Art Deco to Neo-Moorish), there are plenty of green spaces to sit and soak up the sea views. At the western end, the contemporary Tanja Marina Bay juts into the sea, with space for boats and superyachts, plus trendy lounge bar-restaurants such as Chiringuito. On a clear day, you can make out the whitewashed buildings of Tarifa, Spain, just across the water. The area is perfect for a sunset stroll, jogging, or cycling. Along the way, you'll pass the Grand Mosque (the bright yellow building visible from the port), the Terrasse des Paresseux with its fountains and café, and the Port de Tanger Ville for ferry-watching. For seafood lovers, the long-standing favorite Saveur de Poisson offers a fixed menu of fish soup, catch-of-the-day, and just-baked bread. The Corniche is easily accessible from the medina and Ville Nouvelle alike.[citation:1][citation:6]
